The Elite Scholar Academy Experience

Founded by experienced educators John and Kimberly Meck, who are dedicated to nurturing student’s growth and learning. With over 35 years of combined expertise, they’ve passionately guided students through various educational journeys, from preschool programs to sports coaching.

John, equipped with a Master’s Degree in Education, spent three impactful years teaching elementary school just outside Chicago. His journey took an unexpected turn in 2009 when he embraced a teaching position in Hillsborough County, Florida, furthering his commitment to empowering student’s education and development.

We’re on a mission to redefine education with personalized, enriching learning. We cultivate passion, critical thinking and values for future leaders.

Crafting Futures Since 1999

Our journey into teaching began in 1989 through coordinating and teaching preschool, elementary and young adult programs at our church. We taught and ran these programs for a decade. We began homeschooling in 1999. This is when Kimberly took the lead in shaping our children’s education, researching curriculum and supporting other homeschooling parents.

Immediately upon our relocation to Tampa in 2010, HonoRoll Tutoring was born. We provided a team of tutors who assisted students from diverse educational settings throughout Hillsborough County. In 2012, a vision emerged.

Elite Scholar Academy allowed us to expand beyond tutoring and homeschooling. By 2013, with 7 years of public school teaching experience, John and Kimberly crafted an educational model bridging gaps and eliminating frustrations in various schooling methods.

Kimberly Meck

Founder of Elite Scholar Academy

I was born in Michigan and raised in the Chicago area. My entire life I have spent working with kids. As a young child, there are many fond memories I have of coordinating neighborhood activities, babysitting and playing school.

I have always loved teaching and learning new things. Once we had children, I enjoyed and took extremely seriously being an at home mom. There were endless opportunities to focus even more closely on working with and teaching all ages and grades.

In particular, I have had decades of experience with an exclusive approach to customized teaching and the countless benefits of learning in a small environment.

I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois and after dealing with my share of those winters, I am so thankful for Florida weather. I enjoy the sunshine and just about all sports, golf, fishing and football are my favorite.

After receiving my Bachelors Degree in Business Management and being in the business world for years, I realized that I needed a change. While thinking this through, I thought back to the years of coaching and teaching Sunday School at my church and I decided what I needed to do. I went back to school and earned my Masters Degree in Education.

After teaching in Illinois for three years, we decided that we were done with the cold. That is when my wife, our four children and I relocated to Tampa, Florida.
